Description
This is the new work "Beer Au.Pt Kagutsuchi 'Ra' Bk" by Toru Ichikawa, who made a sensational debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. For this piece, he has further evolved the intense *kai-ragi* (plum blossom glaze) of his "Kagutsuchi" series, named after the fire god Kagutsuchi from Japanese mythology. By combining a fine-grained glaze known as "Kagutsuchi-ki" with a smooth, voluminous glaze, he creates a world of extreme delicacy. Moving on from the profound world of fire seen in the earlier Kagutsuchi series, this work represents a more avant-garde and artistic expression. The black glaze, reminiscent of lizard leather, features randomly scattered scales transformed into gold, creating a landscape that possesses a splendor and mystery unique to ceramics. The three-dimensional "Ra" indigo glaze, reminiscent of an oil painting, is also exceptionally vivid, creating a striking contrast with the black glaze in both texture and color.
