Description

This is a Bizen sake flask by Keiji Yoshikawa, who encountered various types of pottery from across Japan at a young age and was so captivated by the works of Anjin Abe that he decided to follow in his footsteps. While this is an imposing, large-sized "oazuke" (large serving) flask, the meticulously crafted, dynamic movement of the body ensures that, despite its size, it is easy to grip with a firm thumb fit. The rich clay texture and yellow sesame-like ash glaze, created through multiple firings, are impressive; in particular, the shiso-colored clay displays a beautiful, layered hue in some areas that resembles a golden veil, making it a truly rewarding piece to behold. Signed wooden box to be provided at a later date (please allow some time for shipping).
Mouth rim 3.9cm × Body diameter 11.0cm × Body diameter 10.9cm × Height 17.4cm Capacity: approx. 700cc Keiji Yoshikawa was born in Okayama Prefecture in 1983. He studied under Isamu Ishige and Toshio Kinjo starting in 2005, and in 2009, he worked as a staff member at the Jokusai Pottery Studio. Subsequently, in 2012, he began his apprenticeship under Anjin Abe.
