Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his craft on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. For this firing, he aimed to emphasize "kase-goma" (dry, matte sesame ash glaze) over the heavy ash-covered effects achieved previously. As a result, the piece is adorned throughout with a beautiful, slightly bluish kase-goma, a hallmark of the Maruyama kiln shared by his father. The form is a flat sake cup reminiscent of Susumu's work, resulting in a piece that offers much to look forward to as a drinking vessel, with the withered texture of the kase-goma, the way the scarlet "hi-iro" will change with use, and a rustic, wild aesthetic.
Signed wooden box to be provided later (please allow some time for shipping).
