Description

This is a new Bizen sake bottle by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. For this firing, he aimed to achieve a *kase-goma* (matte sesame glaze) finish rather than *haikaburi* (ash-covered). Consequently, the work is decorated throughout with the beautiful, slightly bluish *kase-goma* characteristic of the Maruyama kiln, a trait shared with his father, Susumu. In terms of form, he has brilliantly inherited his father’s hallmark simplicity and strength, skillfully weaving in his own signature sharpness to complete a gourd-shaped bottle where power and delicacy coexist. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping).
Rim 3.3cm x Body 9.7cm x Body 9.6cm x Height 14.4cm Capacity 360cc Tamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University in 2000. In 2004, he entered the world of pottery under his father, Susumu Kaneshige. He held a solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya in 2011.
