Description

This is a new Bizen sake flask by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the demanding path of ceramics, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. For this firing, he focused on achieving *kase-goma* (dry, crusty sesame ash glaze) rather than heavy ash accumulation. As a result, pieces with significant *yohen* (kiln transmutation) are rare, making this a truly exceptional find. Among them, this piece displays particularly dramatic *yohen*, featuring magnificent scenery born from intense firing, including beautifully melted, clear sesame glaze and a smooth, grey *namako* (sea cucumber) glaze texture. Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping)
Mouth rim 4.3cm × Body diameter 11.0cm × Body diameter 10.9cm × Height 13.7cm, Capacity 450cc Tamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University in 2000. In 2004, he began his journey in ceramics under his father, Susumu Kaneshige. In 2011, he held a solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya.
