Description

This new Bizen sake flask is by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his craft on the rigorous path of pottery as the son of the master Susumu Kaneshige. For this firing, he aimed to prioritize "kase-goma" (matte sesame glaze) over "haikaburi" (ash-covered glaze). As a result, pieces with overall kiln-transmutation effects are few, making this a rare and exceptional item. Among them, this piece features a perfect balance of kiln-transmutation and scarlet hues; the understated black-silver surface and the deep, refined scarlet accents blend together, transforming into an indescribably beautiful complexion when slightly moistened. Tamon-sensei's wheel-throwing technique is also truly masterful, resulting in a piece that is remarkably light and easy to hold. Signed wooden box to follow at a later date (please allow some time for delivery).
Mouth: 3.7cm, Body Diameter: 9.5cm, Height: 15.1cm, Capacity: 520cc Tamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University in 2000. In 2004, he began his path in pottery under his father, Susumu Kaneshige. He held a solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya in 2011.
