Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. For this firing, he aimed to emphasize *kase-goma* (dry, ash-dusted sesame glaze) over *haikaburi* (heavy ash deposit) compared to the previous kiln load. As a result, the entire piece is adorned with a beautiful, slightly bluish *kase-goma*—a hallmark of the Maruyama kiln, which he shares with his father, Susumu. The form is reminiscent of his grandfather, Sozan Kaneshige, featuring an intriguing contrast between the leisurely, rounded body and the tautly formed foot.
