Description
This Bizen sake flask (sake set) is by Mamoru Shibaoka, who was born in Imbe as the second son of Kazumi Shibaoka and pursues the kiln-altered variations characteristic of unglazed pottery. This set features the gold-colored scarlet-cord (*hidasuki*) markings that are Shibaoka-sensei's specialty. The entire vessel appears as if coated in a thin layer of platinum, with scarlet cords that shimmer like copper against a blue-silver surface. Despite the striking kiln-altered appearance, the vessel itself follows an orthodox style befitting a veteran artist, allowing one to slowly enjoy sake with the beautiful gold coloring as an accompaniment.
