Description

This is a new Bizen beer tumbler by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. True to the Kaneshige family tradition of carefully preparing their own clay, this piece exhibits a magnificent, deeply flavorful earth tone. As with their traditional methods, small grains of sand have been left in the clay, and the reddish-brown, rich texture of the material makes it appear moist even when dry. Much like his father, Susumu, who was known as a heavy drinker, Tamon is also a great lover of sake, and he has crafted this piece with a thin rim designed to be exceptionally pleasant to the mouth. Original signed wooden box (with two-sided slats)
Diameter 7.8cm × Diameter 7.5cm × Height 12.5cm Tamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University in 2000. In 2004, he entered the world of pottery under his father, Susumu Kaneshige. In 2011, he held a solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya.
