Description
This new Bizen beer tumbler is the work of Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his craft on the demanding path of pottery as the son of the late Susumu Kaneshige. True to the Kaneshige family tradition of meticulously preparing their clay before use, this piece displays a superb and deeply flavorful earth tone. For this work, the artist deliberately utilized elutriated clay as a way to appeal to younger generations and those unfamiliar with Bizen ware; the smooth texture, with the grit removed, offers an effortless drinking experience. Much like his father, Susumu, who was famously a heavy drinker, Tamon is also a great lover of sake, and this piece features a thin rim that has been carefully crafted for a pleasant mouthfeel.
