Description
This new Bizen bowl is by Tomio Ochi, an artist who works diligently at his kiln under the guidance of Anjin Abe, pouring his unquenchable passion into his ceramics. The style marks a slight departure from his previous work, aiming for a point exactly between his signature Ibe-te and Bizen-te techniques. It combines the raw, matte texture of Bizen clay with the well-melted sesame glaze and painted clay characteristic of Ibe-te, establishing a style that is neither strictly traditional Kobizen nor purely contemporary. While it is a solid, imposing bowl, it features unique, lively details—particularly around the rim—that are characteristic of Ochi’s work, and it will undoubtedly create a distinctive atmosphere whether used as tableware or a vase.
Signed wooden box to be provided at a later date (please allow some time for shipping).
