Description
This new Bizen sake cup, fresh from the kiln, is the work of Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who carries on the lineage of the master sake vessel potters Rokuro and Shin Nakamura to create works of profound character. While continuing the tradition of these masters, this sake cup is distinctly Kazuki’s own, infusing his personal flair into a style that sets him apart from his father and grandfather. The low-profile, robust form features powerful undulations at the rim and foot—executed with a dexterity so reminiscent of his grandfather, Rokuro, that one might easily mistake it for his work—giving this young artist’s piece the composed atmosphere and unique allure of a seasoned veteran. The entire body displays a vividly ripened scarlet clay texture, wrapped in a fine-grained, matte sesame glaze (kase-goma) that completes a landscape perfect for a sake cup, one that is as delightful to behold as it is to use.
