Description
This is a newly kiln-fired Bizen triangular sake flask by Kazuki Nakamura, a master who creates deeply flavorful works while following in the footsteps of the legendary sake vessel artisans Rokuro and Shin Nakamura. While carrying on the legacy of these masters, this flask bears Kazuki’s unique signature style, subtly incorporating colors distinct from those of his father and grandfather. Adorned with intense, crusty *kase-goma* (stony ash glaze), the piece reveals beautiful, vibrant scarlet hues on the front and base, as if opening a kimono. The rich scarlet clay, a secret of the Nakamura family, is exceptionally beautiful; it is a piece that delights both the eye and the hand, and one that holds immense potential as a sake vessel, as its texture will grow smoother and more refined the more it is used. The flask is a slightly short, triangular-shaped *katatsuki* (shouldered) vessel, with a soft, bag-like wheel-thrown form that evokes the influence of his grandfather, Rokuro, while the indentations that make it easy to hold reveal Kazuki’s own affinity for sake. (The shape of the base may result in slight instability.)
