Description

This is a brand new *katakuchi* (sake pourer) titled "Blue Hierarchy: HIDEYOSHI," fresh from the kiln by Toru Ichikawa, who made a striking debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative work that exemplifies Mr. Ichikawa’s talent for giving form to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. This *katakuchi* is part of his new "Blue Hierarchy" series, in which the vibrant blue color is developed during the firing process through controlled cooling. The intense blue is not just eye-opening, but almost searingly vivid, leaving an indelible impression on the viewer. As the subtitle "HIDEYOSHI" suggests, the golden body creates a magnificent, opulent landscape that the Taiko Toyotomi Hideyoshi himself would have greatly admired. While the vivid blue and gold are particularly eye-catching, the bold form that brings them all together is equally superb. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
12.3cm (D) x 11.1cm (D) x 11.5cm (H) Toru Ichikawa was born in Tokyo. He began studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki in June 2011 and became an independent artist in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, in January 2015.
