Description
This is a brand new sake cup titled "Kuro no Kaitei (Stairway to Black) - NOBUNAGA," fresh from the kiln by Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative work that exemplifies Ichikawa's style of giving form to his ceaseless flow of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. The title "Kuro no Kaitei" reflects the firing process, which captures the fleeting moment when the clay body transforms from black to silver. He combines this with a silvery-white glaze featuring fine crackles, as beautiful as ice, to express his signature, highly original world of black. A vivid streak of crimson glaze is poured over the black and silver, creating a color scheme befitting the title "NOBUNAGA."
