Description

This is a new sake cup, "ORIBE," by Toru Ichikawa, who made a brilliant debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative work that exemplifies Mr. Ichikawa’s style of giving form to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. This classic Oribe piece has been renewed, featuring a more refined glaze texture that reflects Mr. Ichikawa’s studious nature. There is no exposed clay; instead, the white glaze and Oribe green glaze meet and vie with each other from top to bottom, with the soft milky white highlighting the clear, deep green of the Oribe glaze. As an accent, his trademark crimson glaze is splashed across the waist and foot, adding a stylish touch. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 7.5cm × Diameter 7.1cm × Height 6.2cm Toru Ichikawa was born in Tokyo. He began his apprenticeship under Ryuichi Kakurezaki in June 2011 and established his own studio in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, in January 2015.
