Description
This is a new Bizen beer mug by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds joy in life through creating works and firing kilns. Using a firing technique he developed called *yohen hidaski* (kiln-transformed fire-cord), the piece features a novel aesthetic where *hidaski* markings race across the surface while incorporating hints of *haikaburi* (ash-covered) kiln transformations. While the form itself is orthodox, it shines with Baba's signature sense of style, with a slightly narrowed base design that gives the overall silhouette a very clean, refined look. The interior is decorated with even more vivid *hidaski*, making this the perfect piece for the coming hot season.
