Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who creates works of profound depth, following in the footsteps of the master sake vessel craftsmen Rokuro Nakamura and Makoto Nakamura. While inheriting the lineage of these masters, this sake cup is distinctly Kazuki’s own, infusing his style with a unique flair that sets him apart from his father and grandfather. The low, sturdy form features powerful undulations at the rim and foot—crafted with a dexterity that could easily be mistaken for his grandfather Rokuro’s work—giving this young artist’s piece the composed atmosphere and unique allure of a seasoned veteran. Rather than the so-called "sweet" scarlet hue typical of the Nakamura family, this piece captures the "firmly fired, savory" quality characteristic of Rokuro Nakamura’s early to mid-career works. With its deep shiso-leaf color and subtle, artfully draped fire-cord markings (hi-dasuki), it is a masterpiece that stirs the soul.
