Description

This is a new Bizen "nerikomi" (marbled clay) sake cup in black by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create works that suit contemporary life. This sake cup features a black, marble-like surface created by mixing and firing ten different types of clay. Crafted primarily from mountain clay, it has been meticulously pounded to eliminate any gaps between the soil, resulting in complex patterns and hues unlike anything seen before that evoke an immediate desire to pick it up and use it. The form is also ingeniously designed to highlight the chic and modern tone of the surface, resembling a multifaceted gemstone in the process of being carved. A subtle "hidasuki" (fire-cord) mark decorates the foot, serving as a sophisticated accent that stands out against the monochrome palette. Signed wooden box (lid with two slats)
Diameter 7.4cm × Diameter 6.7cm × Height 6.8cm Koji Nakahara was born in Osaka Prefecture in 1978. Since then, he has actively exhibited his work at the Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition and various public competitions. He is currently an associate member of the Japan Kōgei Association.
