Description
This is a brand new "Beer Liberalism" piece, fresh from the kiln by Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is a highly original and exceptional work that captures the essence of Ichikawa-sensei, who brings his endless stream of ideas to life through the supreme medium of clay. True to the title "Liberalism," the piece focuses on bold expression through glazes while remaining strictly committed to the use of Bizen clay. It combines the characteristics of various series he has created to date, featuring a powerful katamigawari (half-and-half) design: one side showcases a milky-white glaze reminiscent of quartz or stalactites, while the other features a red glaze with delicate Kagutsuchi-style kairagi (crackle) that resembles lizard leather. This piece also features a Sanskrit character at its center—the "Kirik" character, representing the guardian deities of the Year of the Dog and Boar, as well as Amitabha Buddha.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
