Description
This is a freshly kiln-fired Bizen tea bowl by Kazuki Nakamura, a potter who carries on the lineage of the master sake vessel craftsmen Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura to create works of deep character. While following the tradition of his master father and grandfather, this piece bears Kazuki's unique signature style, subtly incorporating a distinct aesthetic different from his predecessors. This latest work, just removed from the kiln this October, is a larger version of his highly acclaimed sake cup design, adapted for use as a tea bowl. It retains the same tactile comfort as the original sake cup, allowing the aroma of the tea to spread leisurely, while the uniquely undulating rim is crafted to gently welcome the lips. The base features a soft, earthy brown clay, with a "botamochi" (mochi-shaped) mark created by the absence of sesame-glaze ash on the interior.
