Description
This is a new sake bottle titled "Liberalism" by Toru Ichikawa, who made a striking debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative work that exemplifies Mr. Ichikawa’s style of giving form to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. True to the title "Liberalism," the work focuses on bold expression through glaze, while still remaining firmly rooted in the use of Bizen clay. Incorporating features from various series he has created to date, it forms an Ichikawa world that is both bold and delicate, inserting a brilliant streak of gold like a ray of light into a black glaze that resembles ore. This piece features a Sanskrit character in the center, specifically "Kirīku," which represents the zodiac signs of the Dog and Boar, as well as the Amitābha Buddha.
