Description

This is a new Bizen ware rice bowl (small) by Shusaku Taku, who shapes his work by fermenting the various emotions of daily life into Bizen ware, a craft that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people over generations. It is a small rice bowl crafted with meticulous attention to detail, characteristic of Taku-sensei, who makes each piece with care as if trying to reach the heart of the user. While many Bizen rice bowls have a gentle finish typical of mountain clay, this piece reflects Taku-sensei’s strong commitment, resulting in a refined, weathered aesthetic. The rich coloration, typical of Taku-sensei—a self-proclaimed clay enthusiast—is captivating, and the cold, withered brownish-red "hidasuki" (fire-cord) markings, a hallmark of his current kiln, are truly magnificent. This piece is a smaller rice bowl designed for women or children. Paper box
