Description

This is a new Bizen tea cup by Masao Akitani, who studied under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and creates works overflowing with unique originality within a new spirit. Crafted using the *shinogi* (fluting) technique inherited from his mentor Jun Isezaki, the form is wonderful in its pursuit of three-dimensional interest and visual appeal. The evenly spaced, uniform-depth spatula marks overlap like the folds of a folding fan; beyond the three-dimensional interest, the act of shaving with a spatula allows one to directly enjoy the rough texture of the clay itself. At the same time, the rim is tapered purposefully, demonstrating careful attention to the user's comfort. The texture characteristic of an *anagama* kiln, with its scarlet clay body and areas of white, along with the dynamic *tobigoma* (splashed sesame) glaze, suits this stylish work perfectly. Paper box
Diameter 8.1cm x 7.9cm x Height 9.2cm
