Description

This new Bizen sake cup is the work of Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes his pieces using the daily inspirations of life as his yeast, standing alongside a craft that has matured through the continuous efforts of people over generations. It is a tea bowl-style sake cup crafted with the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of Taku-sensei, who carefully creates each piece with the hope that it will touch the heart of the user. Resembling a compact Ido tea bowl, it features a very high foot combined with a flared body, giving the work a powerful presence. A profound "goma" (ash glaze), which appears to have been fired multiple times, slides down across the entire interior, as if he has scooped up the glowing embers from inside the kiln to form a cup. The exterior, reacting to the intense firing, has developed a rich, earthy texture, resulting in a sake cup of exceptional perfection. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
