Description
This Oribe-hi-dasuki (Oribe-style fire-cord) medium plate is the work of Koji Nakahara, a student of Fumio Kawabata, who strives to create pottery that fits modern life. It is designed to combine the stain resistance and practicality of Oribe glazing with the evolving character and textural changes of Bizen clay. By reinforcing the outer edge with Oribe glaze, he enhances its functionality as tableware while preserving the inherent beauty and comfortable feel of the Bizen clay. The central portion is designed to showcase the Bizen clay, effectively highlighting the intriguing changes in the material and the raw, unglazed surface of the pottery. The outer rim is fashioned in an elegant, flower-like shape, a testament to the meticulous care and refined craftsmanship characteristic of Mr. Nakahara.
