Description

This is a medium-sized Oribe-Hidasuki plate by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create works that suit contemporary lifestyles. This Oribe-Hidasuki piece is designed to leverage both the stain resistance and practicality of Oribe glazing and the evolving character and tactile qualities of Bizen clay. By reinforcing the outer edge with Oribe glaze while retaining the beauty and comfort of the Bizen clay, the artist has elevated the piece's functional perfection as tableware. The center section is designed to showcase the Bizen clay, skillfully highlighting the interesting transformations and the raw, unglazed texture of the clay itself. The hexagonal shape combined with the Oribe-Hidasuki coloration gives this medium plate a tortoiseshell-like impression. No box
