Description

This is an Oribe-hidasuki (Oribe-corded pattern) medium plate by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create crafts that suit modern life. This work combines the practicality and stain resistance of Oribe glazing with the evolving character and texture of Bizen clay. By reinforcing the outer edge with Oribe glaze while retaining the beauty and comfort of Bizen clay, the artist has enhanced its perfection as tableware. The center section is designed to showcase the Bizen clay, effectively utilizing the interesting shifts in the material and the raw, unglazed surface. The hexagonal form combined with the Oribe-hidasuki colors gives the medium plate the impression of a tortoise shell. No box
