Description

This is a brand new sake cup, "Liberalism - Crimson - Madonna," fresh from the kiln by Toru Ichikawa, who made a striking debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is a highly original and unconventional piece that reflects Mr. Ichikawa's signature style of giving form to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. This latest work in the popular "Liberalism" series features a wonderful, pop-inspired glaze reminiscent of spring colors. The contrast between the smooth, milky yellow texture and the platinum glaze, which has shrunk intensely to create a tiled effect, is fascinating. The milky yellow sections are accented with crimson glaze edged in gold, while the platinum sections are adorned with touches of gold leaf, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of Mr. Ichikawa's work. It is a sake cup that lets you enjoy the arrival of spring a little bit early. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 7.3cm x 6.8cm x Height 6.8cm Toru Ichikawa was born in Tokyo. He began his apprenticeship under Ryuichi Kakurezaki in June 2011 and established his own studio in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, in January 2015.
