Description

This is a Bizen beer tumbler by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young ceramic artist and former live-in apprentice to the late Sozan Kaneshige. Compared to his previous beer tumblers, this piece is crafted with thinner walls, with the clay particularly well-compressed around the rim. It is slightly shorter in height, making it light, thin, and a perfect size that is easy for women to use. The quality of the clay remains exceptionally high; it features an earthy "bitter chocolate" hue with a subtle, rustic "kase-goma" (dry ash) glaze finish. Paper box
Diameter 7.3cm × Diameter 7.2cm × Height 11.5cm

*A shipping fee of 500 yen applies. Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who was a pottery enthusiast, he decided to pursue a career in ceramics. After graduating from high school, he began his apprenticeship in 1989 under Sozan Kaneshige and his son, Yuho Kaneshige. After seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to strike out on his own, successfully firing his first kiln the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Kita no Kashiki" (Northern Sweets Bowl) Exhibition, and in 2002, he was selected for the "Chanoyu no Zokei" (Forms of Tea Ceremony) Exhibition for the first time.
