Description

This is an Orihi glass by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create crafts that suit modern life. This piece features Oribe-Hidasuki, combining the stain resistance and usability of Oribe glazing with the evolving character of Bizen clay. The exterior is reinforced with Oribe glaze to enhance its durability as tableware while retaining the beautiful, evolving qualities and comfortable feel of Bizen clay. The center is designed to showcase the Bizen clay, making excellent use of the intriguing changes inherent in the material and the raw, unglazed surface. The design is remarkably stylish, blending the contrast between emerald green Oribe and scarlet Hidasuki—a hallmark of Nakahara’s work—with a faceted, cutting-style aesthetic. Paper box
