Description
This is a newly fired Bizen sake cup by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who carries on the lineage of the master sake vessel makers Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura, creating works of profound character. While inheriting the style of these masters, this sake cup bears the unmistakable signature of Kazuki, incorporating a unique flair that distinguishes his work from that of his father and grandfather. With a low, solid form, the cup features powerful undulations at the rim and foot that mirror the masterful touch of his grandfather, Rokuro; though a young artist, he imbues his work with the calm maturity and distinctive allure of a veteran. This latest piece, just pulled from the kiln, is a sake cup characterized by its hard-fired aesthetic that still retains the natural warmth of the scarlet clay. The vibrant gray kiln-altered glazes of *goma* (ash glaze) and *sangiri* (reduction firing) create an exquisite contrast with the patches of scarlet. The interior showcases a wine-red clay tone, resulting in a piece that is a joy both to use and to cultivate over time.
