Description
This is a newly kiln-fired Bizen-ware hand-beaten plate by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who inherits the lineage of the master sake ware potters Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura to create works of profound depth. While drawing from the legacy of these masters, this piece showcases Kazuki’s signature hand-beaten style, incorporating a unique flair that distinguishes his work from that of his father and grandfather. It offers a fresh take on the clay, featuring a sophisticated "shiso" (perilla-leaf) color that differs from the vivid scarlet hues often seen in Bizen ware. The countless indentations created by the hand-beaten technique evoke a rustic atmosphere, which, combined with the "goma" (sesame glaze) and shiso-colored patterns, makes for an incredibly versatile plate. The deep shiso color also possesses the signature beauty of Bizen ware, which is further enhanced when the piece is moistened.
