Description
This is a freshly kiln-fired Bizen triangular sake bottle by Kazuki Nakamura, a potter who creates deeply flavorful works while following in the footsteps of master sake-ware artisans Rokuro and Makoto Nakamura. While inheriting the lineage of these masters, this piece is quintessentially Kazuki, concealing a unique character in its style that sets it apart from his father and grandfather. It is draped in a rugged, intense *kase-goma* (crusty sesame) glaze, while revealing a beautiful scarlet hue on the front, almost as if opening a kimono. The rich, scarlet clay body—a Nakamura family secret—is exquisite; it is a delight both to behold and to use, with a surface that will grow smoother and more lustrous with time, promising exceptional potential as a vessel for sake. The bottle is a slightly low-profile, triangular *katatsuki* (shouldered) shape; its soft, pouch-like wheel-thrown form echoes the style of his grandfather, Rokuro, while the indentations that make it easy to hold reveal Kazuki’s own perspective as a sake lover.
