Description

This is Glass Liberalism Ver. 6.21.2 by Toru Ichikawa, who made a sensational debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is a highly original and exceptional work that reflects Ichikawa's signature style of giving form to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. True to the title "Liberalism," the work focuses on bold expression through glazes while remaining strictly committed to the use of Bizen clay. As this is an upgraded version of "Liberalism," he has taken on the challenge of a daring landscape where red glaze emerges against a deep, glossy black, reminiscent of a thermograph. It is a complex black glaze incorporating various hues, possessing great depth with elements that include shades of brownish-black and areas that shimmer with a steely blue light depending on the angle of the light. The interior (mikomi) appears as though a deep violet has been boiled down to black, offering a distinct charm from the outer periphery. Signed wooden box (shohosan) included
Diameter 7.8cm × 7.7cm × Height 12.7cm Toru Ichikawa was born in Tokyo. He began studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki in June 2011 and became independent in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, in January 2015.
