Description
This is a new Bizen tea cup by Kazuki Nakamura, a creator who follows in the tradition of master sake ware artists Rokuro and Makoto Nakamura to produce deeply evocative works. While inheriting the lineage of these masters, this piece bears Kazuki’s own unique touch, imbuing the style with a character distinct from that of his father and grandfather. With a low, solid form, the rim and foot display powerful swells shaped with a dexterity that could easily be mistaken for his grandfather Rokuro’s own hand, lending this young artist’s work a seasoned, composed atmosphere and a unique charm. The quality of the clay, inherited from Rokuro, is superb, with a beautiful surface featuring a soft, overall scarlet hue. Much like his sake ware, this tea cup offers the pleasure of becoming more familiar and refined the more it is used.
