Description
This ceramic-body bowl is the work of Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create pieces that suit modern life. It is a ceramic-body lacquerware piece, made by applying lacquer over a ceramic base, with a primitive vermilion surface that has a very stylish finish. To make the most of the unique atmosphere of the ceramic body, it is crafted using the coil-building technique, a process that takes a significant amount of time, with the unique texture resulting from this handiwork further enhancing the primitive feel of the piece. The bowl itself is highly refined, and the deep red that can only be achieved with lacquer will make the fresh green of matcha stand out beautifully, making it an interesting piece to use not only as a rice bowl but also as a matcha tea bowl.
