Guinomi“Céladon Premium”

This sake cup, "Céladon Premium," is the work of Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is a highly original and exceptional piece, characteristic of Ichikawa sensei, who gives form to his inexhaustible ideas through clay, the ultimate material. He has further evolved his "Céladon" series—named after the French word for celadon—into a piece with increased transparency and delicacy, as the name "Premium" suggests. The cool celadon glaze has been further refined and adjusted to take on a pale, ice-like light blue hue, and with its beautiful crackle glaze, this piece feels as though it might melt in your hand like ice. To complement the changes in the glaze, the clay body has also been switched to a Shigaraki-based clay; the pale green surface beneath the glaze further accentuates the piece's translucency.
