Description
This is a brand-new Bizen round plate, just out of the kiln, by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. This latest piece, fired in early summer 2019, features the classic design for a Koriki round plate, with a texture known as *ishime-hada*, which resembles the fine, uneven surface of a stone. While round plates tend to be thick and heavy, this piece is meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail, resulting in a moderate weight that makes it extremely easy to use. The beautiful scarlet hue, achieved by using high-quality *ta-tsuchi* (rice field clay), serves as the focal point, while the front features a "marunuke" (circular pattern) created by placing fireproof clay, accented by *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings to add variety to the aesthetic.
