Description

This is a newly kiln-fired Bizen sake cup by Kazuki Nakamura, a potter who carries on the lineage of the master sake vessel craftsmen Rokuro Nakamura and Makoto Nakamura to create works of profound character. While inheriting the style of these masters, this sake cup is distinctly Kazuki’s own, infusing his work with a unique flair that sets him apart from his father and grandfather. With its low-slung, substantial form, he creates powerful undulations at the rim and foot with a deftness of hand that could be mistaken for his grandfather Rokuro, giving this young artist’s work a seasoned, composed atmosphere and a unique sense of allure. This latest work, fresh from the kiln, features the melting scarlet *hi-iro* typical of the Nakamura family, accented by light gray ash glaze. The scarlet color is prominent not only on the front but also inside the bowl, promising an exceptional experience for the user. Signed wooden box (double-slat lid)
Diameter 7.7cm × 7.7cm × Height 5.0cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to refine his ceramic techniques. He fired his first kiln and became an independent potter in 2006.
