Description
This is a brand new sake cup titled "Glorious Transformation," fresh from the kiln by Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakinoki. It is an exceptionally creative work that embodies Mr. Ichikawa’s signature style of manifesting his ceaselessly overflowing ideas through the supreme medium of clay. The title "Transformation" refers to the kaleidoscopic display of vibrant glazes, which shift dizzyingly before your eyes. The piece is based on his familiar platinum glaze, complemented by the vivid blue glaze seen in his "Stairway to Blue" series. Added to this are vivid yellow and gold accents, constructing a magnificent world of transformation through a color palette that brims with Mr. Ichikawa’s unique sense of style. At first glance, vivid yellow against blue may seem overly flashy, but the glaze tones have been expertly balanced, resulting in a harmonious composition that feels as though these colors were always meant to be together.
