Description

This is a brand new rock glass titled "Fusion," fresh from the kiln by Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative work that exemplifies Ichikawa's style of giving shape to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. The title "Fusion" reflects his endeavor to transcend the boundaries of ceramic and metal by fusing them together to achieve a new form of expression. Featuring a combination of Shino-style feldspar glaze and platinum and gold luster, the piece truly embodies its title, appearing as though distinct materials have been joined while retaining their individual character. The pale orange hue of the feldspar glaze is somewhat reminiscent of skin tone, and when combined with the platinum and gold sections, it creates a mysterious aesthetic that feels like a fusion of the organic and the inorganic.
