Description
This is a new Oribe-hidasuki plate by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create crafts that suit modern life. This piece of Oribe-hidasuki pottery is designed to combine the stain resistance and ease of use provided by Oribe glaze with the evolving aesthetic and character development characteristic of Bizen clay. While retaining the changing beauty and pleasant usability inherent to Bizen clay, the outer edge is reinforced with Oribe glaze, enhancing its perfection as functional tableware. The central section is designed to showcase the Bizen clay, skillfully utilizing the intriguing variations of the clay and the exposed, unglazed surface. A circular line pattern runs through the Bizen clay section, which appears to show through the Oribe glaze, creating an interesting, record-like design. Its cool color scheme makes it perfect for dishes such as somen noodles.
