Description

This is a new *susogodare* (shaded) teacup by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create works that suit modern life. The entire piece is adorned with a beautiful gilding technique called *susogodare kinsai*, featuring an exquisite color scheme that transitions from a shimmering silvery-white surface to a deep, dark black. In the center of the piece, there is a mysterious circular gold pattern that looks almost like a fingerprint, adding a sense of mystery to the work like a unique, glowing golden symbol. The indentations across the surface, reminiscent of the dimples on a golf ball, are not only interesting and give the piece an exotic, ancient ritual-vessel feel, but also combine with the textured surface of the *susogodare kinsai* to make it very easy to hold.
