Syuhari“Miss you♡”

This is "Miss you♡," a piece by Toru Ichikawa, who made a striking debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is an exceptionally creative and unconventional work that captures Ichikawa’s signature style of giving form to his endless stream of ideas through the supreme medium of clay. For this piece, he has chosen the unusual title "Miss you♡," with a vivid lemon-yellow glaze that catches the eye, expressing the bittersweet feelings of longing and yearning. In contrast, the base features a powdery, granular white glaze; this refreshing color scheme is a masterful combination typical of Ichikawa. In key areas, the gold leaf used as an underlayer for the lemon-yellow glaze peeks through, acting like a border that skillfully bridges the white and yellow tones.
