Description
This Bizen tea bowl is by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who creates works of profound depth, following in the footsteps of the master sake vessel makers Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura. While inheriting the lineage of these master craftsmen, Kazuki infuses his style with a unique character distinct from his father and grandfather, as seen in this tea bowl shaped like a wide sake cup. Its low, stable form features powerful undulations at the rim and foot, crafted with a hand so skilled it could be mistaken for his grandfather Rokuro's, lending the piece a calm, seasoned atmosphere and a unique allure despite the artist's youth. It is an intriguing experiment in which he has scaled up his highly-regarded sake cup design for use as a tea bowl. The user experience remains that of a sake cup, with the shape allowing the tea's aroma to expand leisurely, while the uniquely undulating rim gently greets the lips. (*There is a firing mark on the foot.)
