Description
This Bizen tea cup is the work of Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. True to the Kaneshige family tradition of meticulously preparing their clay before use, this piece exhibits a remarkably rich and profound earth tone. The bright brown clay body is finished with the characteristic luster of "hi-zen" (fire-front) firing, creating a color reminiscent of melting milk chocolate. Much like his father, Susumu, who was known as a heavy drinker, Tamon is also a great lover of sake, and this piece reflects his thoughtful attention to detail, featuring a thin rim for a pleasant mouthfeel.
