Description

Kazuki Nakamura is the grandson of Rokuro Nakamura.
The Nakamura clan specializes in sake vessels such as tokkuri (sake bottles) and guinomi (sake cups).
This piece is a Bizen ware dish called a "tataki sara."
"Tataki" means to strike.
The clay is struck with a stone, a wooden stick, or the bare hand and stretched into a circular shape.
Its appeal lies in the wild and powerful modeling that cannot be achieved with a potter's wheel.

He was born in 1980 in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura.
He graduated from Okayama University in 2003.
He became an independent ceramic artist in 2006.
