Description
This Yunomi is larger than his usual style.
I think it is rarer than the flat-style Yunomi known as Kumidashi.
This Yunomi uses a rough clay containing small stones.
He fired this piece inside another large vessel or a refractory box.
The simple, minimalist design and wonderful colors evoke a sense of Wabi-sabi.
His wife signs the wooden box following Ken's passing.
He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1924.
He began learning about Bizen ware from his uncle, Kei Fujiwara, in 1946.
He built a large hole-type kiln (Anagama) in 1970.
He passed away in 1977.
