Description

Jun Isazaki is a Living National Treasure in Bizen ware. (The fifth person for Bizen ware)
He fires his works using a straight tunnel-shaped kiln called an "Anagama".
The flames of the Anagama kiln blow into the back of the kiln all at once.
The fired pieces exhibit brown or white gradations layered over a bright red base.
On the front of the sake cup (guinomi) is a "kase-goma" finish that resembles frost.
The wrapped straw also blends with the natural glaze to form a white flame pattern.

He was born in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture in 1936.
He graduated from Okayama University in 1959.
He was designated as a Living National Treasure in 2004.
